When I imagine a picture of diligence I see a hiker putting one foot in front of the other on the way up the mountain. I think of teachers sharing information that will propel their students forward… even if they don’t get it the first time.
Diligence feels consistent and steady. It feels like hard work and excitement to do it right.
What are you diligent about in your life?
Brushing your teeth?
Paying your bills?
Saying ‘hello’ to your neighbor?
Getting to work on time?
Diligence is known as the mother of luck. As the steady, earnest and energetic effort forward.
Due diligence is a term from the law that means you’ve covered all your bases with care and caution.
It’s a quality we don’t often search for but appreciate and notice when it ‘s there. It’s persistent, forward-moving and will usually provide a reward for hard work.
I ask again, where are you diligent? What are you diligent about? Name a few people in your life who are diligent. The answers to these questions help you notice it more and want to emulate it yourself.
I don’t believe in luck but I do believe that with diligence there is a space for opportunity to find you.
