Beyond the basic food, water, and shelter humans have another basic need.
We need to be certain that the building we are sitting in will stand strong.
We want to be certain that our car will start when we turn it on.
We want to be certain that the sale will go through.
We want our ducks in a row. A guarantee that all will be right in our world.
The question is what are we willing to do for certainty?
Are we willing to change the oil in our car? get a 100,000-mile tune-up? check the tire pressure? to be certain that our car will take us where we want to go.
We will often create funny little habits around us being certain that our day will go the way that we want it to.
We exercise because we are certain that it will make us feel better in our bodies.
We go to work so we are certain we can pay for the first three basic necessities – food, water, shelter.
Pay attention to what you will do for certainty? What extreme or what comfort are you willing to go to gain it and have the satisfaction that it is yours?
At the end of the day sometimes we need to trust our heart and our gut. Does this decision or choice I need to make feel right?
Chances are if you think you should do it, you probably must do it.
Even though we need certainty, we have to embrace the fact there will always be incomplete information.
The only thing we can be certain of is our attitude and the actions we choose to make. Focus on what you can control and believe that once you make a decision and it doesn’t work out perfectly that you can adjust and make it work out for the better.
