Angel on a 50th Birthday

World premiere of a new play by local playwright Michael Caemmerer on the value of art.

For Dave's 50th birthday, his dad, a brilliant and well-regarded artist, paints him a special gift. When his dad shows up at his front door with the painting in a protective blanket, Dave excitedly unwraps the new addition to his collection, unveiling what is without a doubt the worst painting his dad has ever done, one that if he has his way will never hang on a wall in his house.

Centered around this actual painting, Angel on a 50th Birthday is a play about how we assign value to the things we collect, and how hard it is to let go of some things no matter how much we dislike them.

“Angel...” is a work of ‘memoir-ical fiction.’ It is a story based on pieces of the life of the author and so is fully true. And yet the story never happened. The painting, which is real and the impetus of the story, is in the play taking on the role of making you decide if it’s worth hanging.

This play was incubated by The Hundredth Hill in Bloomington, Indiana, and developed for production by the wonderfully talented people of the Full Circle Theatre Company.

Oktoberfest 2023

Oktoberfest returns to Leavenworth this fall with longstanding traditions of music, dancing, and the ceremonial tapping of the kegs! This year, like last year, we have exciting enhancements to Oktoberfest bringing the event throughout downtown Leavenworth, with two fully programmed venues (beer gardens) located at the Leavenworth Festhalle and at Front Street Park. Sit under our clear-topped tent enjoying tasty local and German beers, lively music, and mountain views for days!

We are especially excited to bring our local breweries Icicle Brewing Co., Doghaus Brewery, and Blewett Brewing into the event to pour their beers (including a collaborative ale they are creating just for us) and we’ll have those classic imports from Germany too! For the kiddos a 10,000 sq foot Kinderplatz has been added, free for kids 12 and under, with activities, games, a root beer garden, and a 62ft Ferris Wheel! It’s time to grab your best Trachten (traditional Bavarian garments) and make plans to celebrate Oktoberfest in America’s unofficial Bavarian capital.

HydroFest Races

HydroFest is back in Manson on the North Shore of Lake Chelan September 29th – October 1st! This annual event is presented by the Manson Chamber of Commerce and we are so happy to have another weekend of HydroFest Races back in Manson Bay with the Pacific Northwest Boat Racing Association. This is an exciting, family friendly event that draws hundreds of people to the Lake Chelan Valley for two and a half days!

Join us for the Registration Party at WineGirl Wines on Friday, September 29th from 3pm – 8pm! You will be able to meet some of the drivers and see the Hydros up close and personal before the races start on Saturday.
